US College Application Evaluation

Hello friends, I know it's been a long time since I last posted. I wasn't able to take out some time for blogging 'cause you know, it's senior year of the school. Anyway, before kick-starting this article, I have an announcement.

1. You can download the FUSEPP Konekt app and stay connected to the blog and the Facebook Page.
2. For free personal consultation and help on your college application, please fill out the Personal Consultation Form.

Okay, now let's get started. So, everyone wants to know how are the college applications evaluated. Well, there's no perfect answer to this question. Every institution has its own way of application evaluation but I can help you in outlining a rough figure.

So generally, colleges look at your application only when all the are documents are present. They'll not consider your application until all the required documents reach the institution. They may ask you for more documents if they wish to, so regularly check your email after submitting the application.

Generally, an application is read by two members of the admissions office. In case of international application, they are read by the international admissions officer who and/or any other person who is familiar with the educational pattern of your country. Generally, 10-15 minutes are devoted to an application.

The first reader fills out an evaluation sheet for each application and assigns points and/or pens down his/her comment on various sections on the application. Then in the end, he pens down his decision for an application as "Accept", "Reject", "Waitlist", and  "Defer". Then the second reader also does the same thing. If the final decision of both the readers matches, then that decision is final. If in some case, the decisions do not match, then that applicant's fate is decided in a meeting where both the readers put their views in front of other members and the decision is made collectively.

So, always submit your best application without exaggerating or lying 'cause the admission officers are the experts in their field and can smell such lies from a mile away. Be honest and confident about everything that you mention in your application.

I guess that's all for now. Don't forget to share your views and opinions in the comment box or on the Facebook Page.
